The opening of the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester is hugely anticipated, to say the least, with plenty of star names set to grace the stage, including Olivia Rodrigo, Take That and Barry Manilow. Now, it has been announced that the very first act to take to the stage of the brand new Co-op Live Arena, the largest in the UK, will be none other than Bolton‘s own comedian, Peter Kay.
Announcing the gig, Co-op Live said: “We’re thrilled to announce that the legendary comedian Peter Kay will opening Co-op Live on 23 April 2024.” Plus, due to popular demand, Peter Kay has now added an extra date at Manchester’s Co-op Live on the following day – April 24, 2024.
Peter Kay’s performance in Manchester will kickstart a new chapter in the city’s revered cultural story, having delighted fans across the UK for well over two decades as one of the most successful stand-up comedians of all time. The unique bowl design of the Co-op Live Arena promises a fittingly intimate environment, bringing fans closer to Peter Kay than at other arenas of equivalent size.
Gary Roden, Executive Director and General Manager, Co-op Live, said: “When you think of Manchester, it’s hard not to think of Peter Kay. He embodies what this city is about, and to have him headlining Co-op Live is tremendously exciting.
“We’re creating an arena that is truly part of the community around it, and having Peter as our opening act is a perfect reminder of that.”
Aiming to become Europe’s most sustainable arena, Co-op Live places people and planet first. The venue will be 100% electric, include rainwater recycling technology and operates with reusable cups to significantly reduce plastic usage across the site.
Co-op Members will gain first-in-line access to Peter Kay tickets through a designated presale from February 21. General sale tickets will be available through Co-op Live from February 23 and also available via Peter Kay website here.
Peter Kay will perform at Manchester’s Co-op Live on April 23 and 24, 2024.
