With cosy season getting underway, many will be planning autumn and winter walks, with a crisp pint in a pub at the end as a reward. But how can you guarantee your pub of choice brings all the cosy vibes?
The experts at cottages.com, the UK’s leading managed holiday rentals provider, have compiled a list of the ten cosiest pubs in the Peak District as part of their ongoing Pub Walks campaign. The top 10 cosiest pubs are based on relevant keywords in Google reviews including: ‘cosy‘, ‘cozy‘, ‘snug‘, ‘inviting‘, ‘comfortable‘ and ‘intimate‘.
Ashbourne pub named the cosiest in the Peak District

Ashbourne’s Watts Russell Arms had the largest percentage of reviews including the keywords. At the very southern tip of the Peak District, The Watts Russell Arms serves as a countryside pitstop where you can park your car and tackle local walking trails right from the doorstep. Visit the likes of Dove Holes, Manifold Valley and Castern Wood to get your crunchy fill, and amble right back to this home from home.
Inside, you can settle in for food, drinks, and live music, or make a weekend of it with the pub’s on-site accommodation, all within the stone-shrouded, beam-clad rooms of the cosiest pub in the area.
Hope Valley and Ashbourne tied for the areas with the highest amount of cosy pubs, bringing the likes of Bradwell and Alstonefield into the rankings. Macclesfield, Buxton and our closest amenity, High Peak, also made the top 10, with boltholes including The Lamb Inn and Jug & Glass Inn being recognised.
