Padel is having a moment as it has become one of the fastest-growing sports out there and you’ll now find a fair few courts in Manchester and the surrounding areas. The latest padel facility to open in Greater Manchester is Padel 16, which is located at Worsley Sports Club and it even has a pro-footballer backing the sporting venue.
The state-of-the art padel facility is owned by Italian pro-footballer Fabio Borini, who started his football career at Bologna, before moving to Chelsea in 2007 and currently plays for Sampdoria in Genoa. Padel 16 is set to host an open weekend this May bank holiday (Saturday 3rd May-Monday 5th May) at Worsley Sports Club where the local community can come and see the new courts.
The opening weekend is a chance for seasoned players, as well as those new to or intrigued by Padel, to give it a try in Worsley. Padel 16’s expert coaches will also be on hand to answer any questions and provide top tips for the sport that is taking Manchester by storm.
Across the weekend there will be various forms of entertainment and food and drink on offer. Premium alkaline hydration water brand KAN-NRG will be there with samples and coffee van Vanoffee will be there serving coffee, pastries and cookies.
Anthony Bingham, Director at Padel 16, said: “Padel 16 is for the incredible Worsley community, who deserve the best-in-class sporting facilities on their doorstep. We’re looking forward to showcasing Padel 16 over our open weekend and giving locals the chance the experience what our new courts have to offer, with a fun bank holiday atmosphere thrown in .
“More than anything, we want to give back to the community and that’s why the majority of proceeds from Padel 16 will be reinvested back into Worsley Sports Club. We can’t wait to see this come to life.”
