As much as we hate to say it, Christmas is over, and although we’re holding onto the festive feels, it’s inevitable that New Year will come around much quicker than we realise. It happens every year. It’s now this week, and we want to know where we can celebrate 2025 with some spectacular fireworks displays in Manchester, and to take out the stress for all of you out there who won’t have planned, here’s our guide to the New Year’s Eve fireworks displays to look out for.

The grand finale session will be hosted on Tuesday 31st December at 8pm, with a dazzling 10-minute fireworks display in the evening.

Manchester City Council has announced that a free fireworks event will be returning to the city centre once more for official New Year’s Eve celebrations – but this time at a different location. Unlike last year’s firework event, which were held at Castlefield Bowl, celebrations will take place in St Peter’s Square, which will see fireworks let off from the roof of the city’s iconic Central Library building.
This year’s family-friendly end of the year celebration marks the first time St Peter’s Square has been used for the New Year countdown event, which will take place on Tuesday 31 December from 10pm to 12.30am, and the first-time ever that New Year fireworks have been let off from the roof of Manchester Central Library. All are welcome to join in the fun-filled celebrations as the city counts down to 2025, which will feature radio presenter and DJ Joe McGrath as the host for the evening – who will be a familiar voice to local radio station listeners right across the city region.
