Missing the luxury of Britain’s finest dish?
If there’s one thing that’s been missing from lockdown, it’s the sweet smell of gravy brewing on the hob at the parent’s house, while kicking your feet up and watching some Sunday tele. Nothing signals the end of the weekend quite like a tray of Yorkshire puds, so if you’re a bit of a novice in the kitchen, you’re probably sorely missing those fluffy little suckers right about now. And to help you through this terrible ordeal, we’ve created a guide to the best places offering up delicious roasts during the UK lockdown.
1. Elnecot, Ancoats
Officially launching this week, laid-back Ancoats spot Elnecot will be serving up their delicious Sunday lunch for customers who can collect, with a substantial menu available to order from. Fill your tum with 28-day-dry-aged ribeye of Yorkshire beef, lemon & thyme butter roasted chicken, crispy slow-roasted pork belly, or the vegetarian/vegan nut roast.
Each roast is served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, carrots, parsnips, sautéed greens, cauliflower cheese and a rich gravy. And if that wasn’t enough to make you drool already, you can even pick up a sticky toffee pudding, lemon posset, or a cheese board to finish. Orders can only be taken over the phone, and the service will be open 1pm-6.30pm only.
2. Sam’s Chop House, Manchester City Centre
Known for their famous Corned Beef Hash, Sam’s Chop House is continuing to offer up its incredible Sunday lunch menu, with all items delivered so you can easily pop them in the oven, microwave or the hob for ultimate freshness. And while you might be thinking you want to avoid doing anything at all, the hard work’s been done for you, with dinner being served in just 15 minutes.
The menu includes slow-cooked rump beef and a mushroom wellington that’s suitable for vegetarians. The beef is served with Yorkshire pudding, carrot & swede mash, mixed vegetables, roasted potatoes and gravy, with the mushroom wellington being served with carrot & swede mash, mixed vegetables, garlic & spinach baked in puff pastry as well as roasted potatoes and gravy. You can order yours here.
