The weather has been particularly miserable lately, so it’s about time we got some good news. In a wild turn of events, it would seem that this late May bank holiday weekend is set to be quite the scorcher, with Manchester forecast to reach a whopping 28°C… yes, you read that right.
When it comes to bank holidays, we can pretty much guarantee it’ll be almost a complete washout – but not this time. The Met Office predicts a pretty bright forecast for the next couple of days: “A fine day for many with plenty of sunshine, although low cloud may affect Cumbria and areas near to the coast at times. Sunshine may turn a little hazy elsewhere throughout the afternoon, but feeling very warm for most. Maximum temperature 26 °C.”

For Saturday: “A grey start in places, but the cloud will increasingly break up allowing plenty of sunshine to develop across the region come of the afternoon. Feeling a little fresher. Maximum temperature 23 °C.”
“Remaining dry and settled throughout Sunday and early next week with plenty of sunshine. Feeling very warm by day with potentially some warm nights too.”
The Met Office also predicts that Sunday 24 and Monday 25 May (bank holiday Monday) will be the hottest, peaking at a delightful 28°C at around 4pm on both days. Having said that, Friday 22 and Saturday 23 May are also set to be pretty warm, with the forecast getting up to around 26°C – which sounds good to us.
What’s more, the ever-sunny climbs of Los Angeles are only set to hit around 25°C this bank holiday weekend, but of course, for the US, it’s just a normal week… take that, America.
There’s also generally less than a 5% chance of rain across the weekend (as of right now), aside from a 20% chance during the wee hours of Friday night, which will just keep things nice and fresh! We can hear the infinite list of beer gardens in Manchester calling.
