Forget April showers here in Manchester as a little April heatwave is potentially coming our way this weekend. Dig out your flip-flops, shorts and sunglasses as temperatures are set to increase this Saturday (April 6) to a whopping 17ºC – that’s practically summer weather for us! And if you’re not feeling smug enough about the weather, Manchester is set to be hotter than the Californian city of LA!
On Saturday 6th April, Manchester is predicted to be cloudy changing to sunny intervals in the afternoon. The city is also expected to experience highs of 17ºC and lows of 10ºC, with meteorologists saying temperatures are above average for this time of year. Can you believe it?
However, for those in sunny LA on Saturday the city is predicted to experience highs of 15ºC meaning Manchester will be hotter than the U.S city for once. However, Los Angeles will still remain sunny despite the lower temperature – we can’t have it all, unfortunately.
And it seems the Met Office agrees. The outlook for Friday and Saturday from the meteorologists says: “Low pressure remaining dominant through this period, with further heavy showers and longer spells of rain. Turning increasingly windy too, though temperatures above average for the time of year.”
It might not be much but when we’ve spent the last six months layering up and clinging to our hot water bottles, every degree counts. So slap on the SPF, and enjoy the weather whilst you can – it might even call for a trip to the beach!
Now, it’s still only Wednesday and we haven’t forgotten where we live, so there’s every chance that the forecast may change before the weekend. But until it does, you’ll find us with an ice cream or in a beer garden pint in hand and captioning every single Instagram photo ‘Costa del Salford’ or ‘Costa del Manchester’, wherever we be residing.
