Manchester has surprisingly been having a pretty good summer so far and just as Oasis head to Manchester as part of their reunion tour, it seems they’ll also be bringing the sunshiiiiine. The temperature in the city is expected to rise later this week, so much so, that Manchester will be hotter than Barcelona this weekend. Some might say…it’s time to grab your bucket hat because this week is set to be a scorcher.

How is Manchester hotter than Barcelona?
A heatwave is coming and temperatures in Manchester are set to soar as the week goes on, peaking at around 30°C on Saturday 12th July, even hotter than Barcelona which is set to reach 26°C on the same day. The outlook for the North West region from Thursday (July 10) to Saturday (July 12) sees high pressure dominating with plenty of strong sunshine by day and clear skies overnight, becoming very warm through the period with some uncomfortable nights for sleeping.
According to the Met Office temperatures are unlikely to surpass those recorded at the start of the month, when parts of the UK last experienced a heatwave. The meteorologists said “this heatwave is expected to be longer lived and extend north and west into a larger part of the UK than previously seen this summer.”
The hot weather is expected to continue into Sunday (July 13) with highs of 30°C and lows of 19°C, still making Manchester hotter than Barcelona. The Spanish city is predicted to experience highs of 27°C and lows of 23°C.

What is the weather for the Oasis gigs at Heaton Park this week?
Oasis will be performing at Heaton Park for two nights this week (Friday 11th July and Saturday 12th July) and even though the gigs commence later in the day (gates opening from 3pm), temperatures are still expected to be pretty high.
Friday 11th July
Luckily, it’s not supposed to rain this week, according to the Met Office – meaning the ground should be solid, ready for thousands of feet to jump on. Friday also looks pretty impeccable, weather-wise, with highs of 29°C and full sunshiiiiine… even at 10pm, the temperature is set to be around 23°C!
Saturday 12th July
Saturday is very similar with full sunshine and peaking at 29°C at around 4pm-7pm. Lovely, if a bit sticky, staying at 25°C until the early hours.

Whether you’re off to Heaton Park to see Oasis or not, this is definitely the week to enjoy the sunshine and warmth in Manchester whilst you can! This week, slap on the SPF and take a hayfever tablet (UV and pollen levels are set to be high) and head to a beer garden, your nearest beach or green space with a pint or ice cream in hand – or tapas, since you can’t be in Barcelona. Summer is here and we’re mad fer it!
