We don’t have long to wait for Manchester’s Christmas lights because although this year there will be no official turn on event, the lights will be switched on on Friday, November 12. A grand total of 10 light sculptures will illuminate the city centre this year just as Manchester’s Christmas markets open too.
a 36ft Christmas tree will be the real showstopper, featuring lights that spell out ‘Merry Christmas MCR’, provided by MK Illumination, a Blackburn-based company. Plus, the incredible Manchester Bee will be back to brighten Piccadilly Gardens and bring us all some of those festive feels. An illuminated archway will provide the perfect Christmas photo opportunity alongside stunning, giant Christmas baubles.
Additionally, Heaton Park has confirmed the return of Lightopia with Magic Circus and Fantasy Forest themes, including unicorns, a glowing ‘time tunnel’, a nine-tailed fox and, of course, an illuminated Manchester bee. We’re so excited to see Manchester feeling super-festive this year. With the return of the lights and the Christmas markets, this Christmas is sure to make up for last year’s more modest affair.
