In search of weekend plans? Well, a one-off ‘Made In Manchester’ makers market is heading to the city’s Kampus neighbourhood this weekend, where you can support plenty of local businesses.
Thirty of Manchester’s independent creatives will be showcasing their creations on Sunday 16 July, from 11am – 4pm at the garden neighbourhood. The event is being staged by the team behind the Makers Quarter, the first-of-kind destination dedicated to designers and makers set to open at Kampus later this year, with the market giving a taste of things to come when they open their doors.
Shoppers can expect a massive range of individual creations, from restored furniture, delicate jewellery, original arts and graphic prints; to beautifully-crafted homeware and ceramics, and sustainable fashion. Add scrumptious baked goods, scents, greeting cards and floral arrangements and the line-up makes for a who’s who of the city’s small indy businesses. There’ll also be a BBQ and pop-up bar serving up delicious Pisco Sour cocktails, with all the Kampus operators open for food and drink on the day too.
Makers Quarter Co-founders Sophie Mason and Stephen Hobson, said: “While we fit out our permanent Makers Quarter base at Kampus, the Made In Manchester pop-up market will be a fantastic teaser of things to come. It focuses squarely on showcasing the rich and diverse array of makers that we’ve got in Greater Manchester, whether jewellery makers, artists, carpenters or ceramic experts.
“It’ll be a perfect way to while away a Sunday afternoon and get behind Manchester’s creative collective, who can only do what they do with continued support from those who love hand-crafted, local products.
“We’re making great progress in prepping our Makers Quarter space at Kampus. We can’t wait to serve the city when we open. But until then, the pop-up market will give the public a glimpse of the fabulous, creative makers we aim to support when we do!”
