We don’t have to tell you that June’s heatwave brought us into depths of hell like we’ve never experienced, and although we’re not looking at those insane 38°C temperatures, another heatwave is officially in the pipeline. Of course, any heatwave is likely to hit most of the UK as a whole, but here in Manchester it’s actually set to be glorious, with sunny weather that lends itself more to pulling up a chair in a beer garden, than staying indoors day after day with your face in front of a fan and ice on your neck…
According to the Met Office, things start to take an upward turn come Sunday (5 July) here in the North West, with the forecast predicting: “High pressure continues to build through the weekend, becoming increasingly settled. Temperatures will climb day by day, feeling very warm in the sunshine.”
Into next week, the forecast for the UK turns positively summery (imagine that). The Met Office says the following:
High pressure will dominate across England and Wales into next week, likely extending its influence into the northern UK with time. This will bring dry and warm conditions with plenty of sunshine for most. Scotland and Northern Ireland will probably see more cloud at first, with periods of rain at times.
Through next week though the high pressure may extend northwards to bring periods of drier and warmer weather to Scotland and Northern Ireland. Winds will be light to moderate for most, though stronger around northern hills and coasts near low pressure systems. Temperatures becoming widely warm, perhaps locally hot in parts of the southeast, although not as hot nor humid as seen in the past week.
Temperatures are set to hover around the 19°C-22°C mark until Thursday 9 July, when we’re likely to see a hike up to 27°C, with the weekend of 10-12 July set to be declared as an official heatwave. WXCharts shows temperatures hotting up from the South East, radiating up to us across next weekend, getting to around the 28°C-31°C mark.
That hot front then shifts over to the west of the country, keeping us nice and toasty up here in the North West throughout the following week, waning into the weekend.
All we can do now is hope England hold on in the World Cup, because we can foresee some stunning outdoor screenings taking place across Manchester…
