Many of us have fond memories of escaping damp and drizzly Manchester for the bright oasis of Ibiza. And the island’s energy starts to creep in long before you touch down, with the excitement already building as you make your way through Terminal 2. Whether on recent holidays or in summers long past, there are some things we all remember: sun, cerevezas, and bumping tunes.

And while we’d all quite happily jump on the next plane back to the Balearic Isles, work, money, and real life tend to get in the way. Luckily you won’t have to travel quite so far if you’re craving a bit of that Ibiza magic, as a slice of sunshine is coming to Manchester Cathedral.

A night of Ibiza dance anthems will come to the centuries old Cathedral

On Saturday 10th October, a 40 piece orchestra and vocalists will perform a concert of all the best Ibiza dance hits at Manchester Cathedral. You can expect to hear everything from the iconic, nostalgia prompting classics like Stardust’s “Music Sounds Better With You” to more recent hits, all reimigained under the roof of the iconic Grade I listed building.

The performance is not seated, giving you the chance to boogie the night away. Presented by Classics Events and Secret Symphony, Ibiza Proms in the Cathedral will run for 2 hours with an interval. Special guests will perform alongside the orchestra – who knows, maybe you’ll see a familiar face from the 90s club scene.

If you’re looking for a different kind of party experience, one which involves being in bed by midnight and after dark access to dance in one of Manchester’s most iconic buildings, then this is for you.

More concerts at Manchester Cathedral

Ibiza Proms in the Cathedral is one of numerous concerts taking place at Manchester Cathedral. The Let Me In series explores some of the most iconic artists’ discographies with performances by a full band, vocalists and string quartet. The series returns Saturday November 7th, with An Evening of Kate Bush, exploring the evocative music of the iconic artist.

October 23rd will also see R&B Orchestra Live, bringing the biggest R&B anthems of the ‘90s and 2000s to the iconic Cathedral. Expect to hear hits from artists including Mariah Carey, Usher, TLC, Christina Aguilera and more reimagined by a live orchestra.

The Cathedral also regularly hosts Candlelight concerts, which reimagine discographies from Fleetwood Mac to Vivaldi under the centuries old arches, illuminated by the flickering glow of candlelight. Check out all upcoming concerts here.
