We have so many incredible heritage spots around Greater Manchester, tracking the varied and fascinating history of our region. Now, thanks to Heritage Open Days, you can access many of these Greater Manchester gems for free during September – and there truly is something for everyone.
Heritage Open Days is England’s largest community-led festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations. Every year in September, it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community, and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.

Heritage Open Days runs from September 12th to 21st this year, and with museums, cinemas, theatres, walking tours, and even a solar farm available to explore, we’re rich with history and spots to investigate.
