Calling all Harry Styles fans as this might be the job for you! If you ever wanted to put all your Harry Styles trivia into good use and share your love for the musician then you’re in luck as his hometown is looking for tour guides to lead their Harry’s Home Village Tour, where you’ll be able to take visitors on a journey to where the singer’s life and stardom all began.
The North West-born star’s rise to fame with both his career in One Direction and subsequent solo career has resulted in flocks of fans heading to his hometown of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, less than an hour from Manchester. So much so, the visitor population of Holmes Chapel has gotten so consistent that Holmes Chapel Partnership issued a safe walking route for Harry Styles fans to follow to keep them out of harm’s way and feel a piece of their favourite popstar at the same time.
But now the organisation wants someone to take the lead. Holmes Chapel Partnership are looking for knowledgeable and enthusiastic individuals to be tour guides for their new Harry’s Home Village Tour. Successful candidates will need to have a flair for storytelling, enjoy meeting new people, have a genuine interest in Holmes Chapel with a good knowledge of it’s history, including Harry Styles and his roots in the village.
Tour guides will follow the Harry Styles walking route which features locations such as Twemlow Viaduct where you’ll find Harry’s Wall, the bakery where Harry worked on a Saturday before entering X Factor called Mandeville’s Bakery and Fortune City Chinese Restaurant which Harry lived near and even took Taylor Swift there (lucky gal!) Alas, you won’t be heading to Harry’s House but it’s close enough!
According to the job description, the role requires leading guided walking tours in Holmes Chapel (up to 16 people between two guides), highlighting significant locations, and sharing engaging stories and facts about the area. Tour guides for the home village of Harry Styles will also be responsible for interacting with tour participants and ensuring an enjoyable experience for all, as well as providing recommendations for other local attractions and amenities.
So if you’ve got excellent communication and storytelling skills, an ability to lead and manage a group of tour participants and a genuine interest in Holmes Chapel, its history and links to Harry Styles then this position is worth applying for.
However, being local to Holmes Chapel or within the North West vicinity may have its perks for this role as successful candidates must be available for Saturday morning tours from June, plus weekday tours in July, August and September 2024. The job description says working hours are flexible and the pay for tour guides is competitive.
If you’re ready to combine your love for Harry Styles with a rewarding job as a tour guide in Holmes Chapel, you can apply here. The closing date for applications is 15th April, 2024.
