Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 is now home to a brand new market hall – the first of its kind – bringing travellers a fresh, modern mix of food, drink, and retail under one roof. Known as Great Northern Market, the food hall on the ground level of the departure lounge in the airport’s new, £1.3bn Terminal 2 features six street food-style kitchens.
The kitchens are all set around a central dining area, meaning groups of people can order from different places and still eat together. With over 470 covers, Great Northern Market food hall is the largest food and beverage destination at Manchester Airport to date, offering something for every taste, budget, and moment, whether grabbing food on the go or settling in before your flight.

Richard Jackson, Retail Director at Manchester Airport, said: “We’re so excited to be launching Great Northern Market and can’t wait to share it with our passengers. A lot of work has gone into this idea and we’re delighted with the final product – there’s something on offer to suit all tastes.
“This is the first unit of its kind in a UK airport, but we know market halls are really popular and we want to ensure the offerings in our brand-new Terminal 2 keep up with modern tastes, providing a range of dining experiences from more casual eateries like this one, through to high end a la carte options.”

The first kitchens to open at Great Northern Market, the new Manchester Airport food hall:
- Nashville Hot House – buttermilk chicken and other Southern favourites
- The Black Iron Grill – smash burgers and loaded fries
- Kouzina – Greek and Mediterranean-inspired street eats
- La Casita – a variety of Mexican dishes
- Palms Café – pan-Asian dishes
- Napoli Street Pizza.
In addition to the six street-food kitchens, which take inspiration from some of Manchester’s finest street eats, Mancunian institution Gooey will also serve its assortment of sweet treats to the Great Northern Market, from coffees to cookies and doughnuts.

Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 transformation
Manchester Airport is nearing the end of its decade-long programme to reshape Terminal 2 into “the ultra-modern beating heart of the airport”. An extension, which increased the terminal’s footprint by 150%, opened in 2021; the original terminal building was then closed and has been given a complete overhaul to match the extension’s aesthetic and functional standards.
More than three-quarters of the airport’s passengers are now using the new T2 facilities. The final touches to the new-look Terminal 2 are expected to be complete in time for the summer.
