Located in Stanley Square shopping centre in Sale, just a tram ride from the centre of Manchester, GET Free Books is a wonderful spot for proficient or practising readers. It’s a welcoming space where you can freely browse the aisles or find somewhere cosy to get familiar with a new read. You can even take up to three books home with you for free – and before you ask, there is no catch.
There’s a wide range of secondhand books in all sorts of genres for all ages, so you’re bound to find something you like. It’s a particularly great spot to encourage little ones to read, with tons of brilliant children’s books available in their own dedicated corner.
GET Free Books is run by the Global Educational Trust, whose mission is to make reading free and available to all. Almost one billion people entered the 21st Century unable to read a book or sign their own name, so the Global Educational Trust is distributing free books into society, via the likes of GET Free Books in Sale.
Naturally, you’re encouraged to donate your own unwanted books, creating a circular economy that allows the store to keep running. But there’s no obligation! As we said: no catch. So, if you’re looking to clear your shelves and/or fill some gaps, head to this wonderful FREE bookshop near the city.
