We all love a freebie, and most of us can’t get enough of a katsu curry. And to make it even better, you can get a free katsu curry from one of Manchester’s Far Eastern restaurants, Tampopo, for one day only this week.
Marking Katsu Curry Day on September 27 in a big way, Tampopo will be giving away 400 free curries across its Manchester locations. Fans of the iconic Japanese dish are invited to enjoy a free katsu curry to celebrate its status as one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes with Tampopo since they first served it up in 1997.
The katsu curry, which remains a fan favourite on Tampopo’s menu, is a dish that has become synonymous with Japanese comfort food, features crispy breaded chicken or vegetables, served with steamed rice and smothered in a rich, savoury curry sauce. It’s a dish that has won the hearts of many around the world, and Tampopo’s version was one of the first to hit the streets of Manchester.
David Fox, Co-Founder of Tampopo, said: “Katsu Curry Day is the perfect occasion for us to give back to our amazing Tampopo community and to share one of most popular dishes – and a great way to welcome the Autumn. Our Katsu Curry has been honed to perfection over 27 years and we’re delighted to invite Manchester to come and celebrate with us.”
How to claim your free katsu curry from Tampopo
To claim a free katsu curry from Tampopo, diners simply need to visit the special pop-up Katsu Curry Hubs stationed outside all of Tampopo’s locations across Greater Manchester on September 27. Fans are encouraged to hurry for their curry because when the free katsus are gone – they’re gone.
One hundred curries will be given away at Albert Square, The Corn Exchange, The Trafford Centre Restaurant and The Trafford Centre Kiosk, from 11am until 1pm or until they run out. The curries are only available for takeout and one portion per person is allowed.
