This Luxury Manchester Hotel Has Launched A Decadent Manchester-Inspired Afternoon Tea

Hotel Indigo in Manchester’s Victoria Station has launched a decadent Manchester-inspired Afternoon Tea.

Introduced to England in 1840 by the seventh Duchess of Bedford, Afternoon Tea has become a quintessentially British institution. Taking inspiration from the classic Afternoon Tea, in-house pastry chefs Megan Chester and Morgan Mole have created their own Manchester variation.

For the sweet treats, Manchester’s iconic Vimto drink has been the inspiration for the show-stopping Vimto Macrons, These are accompanied by mini legendary Manchester Tarts, delicate Lemon Choux Bun, and rich Chocolate Orange Opera cake. And of course, an Afternoon Tea staple, fluffy home-baked scones topped with Chantilly cream and served with an assortment of jams.

For the savoury tier, chunky tuna and feta wraps, mini Lancashire oven bottom muffins filled with locally sourced honey roasted ham and pickle, Goosenargh egg mayonnaise, wholemeal sandwiches and open-topped rye bread sandwiches of soft cream cheese and Manchester Smokehouse salmon, from, the city’s only salmon smokery.

The Afternoon Tea is also served with a choice of either single origin coffee from Salford Roasters, or a selection of loose-leaf teas from Denton-based Tea from the Manor. Guests can also add on a glass of fizz for an additional £4.50.

A truly Mancunian affair, Afternoon Tea is served daily in M Cafe, situated inside Hotel Indigo Manchester – Victoria Station and is priced at £14.95 per person.
