A new brunch contender just stepped into the ring.
It’s no secret that us Mancs love a good brunch – particularly when it involves a cheeky tipple (or five). And raising the bar just that little bit higher is Escape to Freight Island, who’ve just introduced their brand new weekend brunch offering.
Combining traditional brunch items with the lunch items we adore – ETFI’s traders have teamed up for the weekend event, putting tasty twists on the classics which will be a permanent weekend fixture at the alfresco hot spot.
Chow down on a breakfast burger from Patty Queens, brunch pizzas topped with Nduja, Cumberland sausages, veggies and more, as well as baked eggs in Napoli sauce and vegan Khubz. There’s plenty of options to choose from if you’re veggie or vegan, as well as, of course, the meatier options for those who aren’t.
But the greatest part about the weekend brunch? The 10am start time, with guests able to start early (which is particularly great under the new COVID restrictions) and enjoy a couple of cocktails with their meals. Cocktails will be priced at just a fiver, with classic options available including mimosas, Bloody Marys, Harvey Wallbangers and more. Not only that but if you fancy a bottle of prosecco, you’ll be able to snap one up for just £22.
Providing the tunes for the official launch day this Saturday, Krysko – the director of music for The Warehouse Project – will be in attendance with the perfect soundtrack to accompany your boozy start to the day.
And guests don’t need to worry about the change in the season either, as ETFI will be installing brand new heaters just in time for the colder months, with plenty of covered areas dotted throughout the space, too. Hideaway up on the bleachers, grab a bench under a canopy or perch up by your favourite bar.
Opening just a few months ago back in July, the new open-air space has already cemented itself as a ‘go-to’ spot for Mancs, with live performances from DJs, artists and more taking place every week. The food vendors alone, however, are well worth the trip – with Voodoo Ray’s American-style pizza, Patty Queen Burgers, and Madre tacos just some of the highlights available to try during your visit.
Escape to Freight Island is just the start of huge things to come for Depot Mayfield, thanks to a huge £1.4bn regeneration planned for the area – including new housing, a huge new city centre park, leisure facilities and office and retail space.
Brunch at Escape to Freight Island kicks off this weekend, and guests can book in now between 10am and 12 noon. Escape to Freight Island, Baring St, M1 2PZ. All bookings must comply with current COVID regulations, with no more than six per group.
