… And it seems Elnecot owner Michael Clay agrees. Expanding new concept Dokes Pizzeria – which has so far only been available at the Society food hall – Clay and co. are taking their ‘Anglo-Saxon’ pizzas to a whole new neighbourhood, selecting Prestwich as the winning contender for their brand new, intimate restaurant.
While the concept may seem wildly different at first glance to their first-born baby, Elnecot, upon further inspection it’s the perfect accompaniment to the popular Ancoats restaurant – similarly celebrating British produce that Clay and his team uncover from all over the island. Don’t let the Neapolitan-looking crust fool you. It’s all-out Great British.
Taking over a spot on Bury New Road, formerly occupied by Italian wine bar Basil + Lily, Dokes Prestwich is set to be the perfect all-day dining destination – not only serving proper stone-baked pizza topped with the finest British produce in the 30-cover space (think Welsh chorizo, cured pig’s cheek and English cheeses), but an array of brunch and lunch dishes, too, which will hopefully mirror the delectable British dishes served at sister site, Elnecot.
Dokes Prestwich is currently earmarked to open this April, however, if you want to try it ahead of the opening, it’s currently available at Society, 100 Barbirolli Square, M2 3BD.
