This week the winners of the British Restaurant Awards (BRA) have been announced and some of the UK’s top food and drink spots have be crowned champions, including a few in Manchester. The British Restaurant Awards is an annual awards ceremony that provides an opportunity for customers to nominate and vote for the best restaurants, chefs, and culinary experiences in the UK.
This year’s fourth annual awards show featured Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, Levi Roots, Ainsley Harriot, Gino D’Campo, Heston Blumenthal, Simon Rimmer, and more top chefs all up for the ‘Best Chef’ 2022 category, with Aldo Zilli bagging first place. This year’s ‘Best New Restaurant’ nominees featured some amazing new launches who are making waves across the country offering a unique experience in cuisine for their customers, but the overall winner was Miro in Mayfair, London.
A number of Manchester venues were nominated in this year’s British Restaurant Awards including Peter Street Kitchen for both ‘Best Luxury Restaurant’ and ‘Best Culinary Experience’, representing the north of the country as it took on an extensive list of London venues. Taking the crown for ‘Best Luxury Restaurant’ was infamous, high-end London restaurant The Ritz, however all was not lost for Manchester’s Peter Street Kitchen as the restaurant took home the prize for ‘Best Culinary Experience’.

Twelve eateries in the city were nominated in the category of ‘Best Restaurant Manchester’, including Mi & Pho, Zouk, Adam Reid at The French, WOOD Manchester, 20 Stories, Australasia, Mana, Tattu Restaurant and Bar, Gaucho, Fazenda, Peter Street Kitchen and 63 Degrees. Announced the winner for the category of ‘Best Restaurant Manchester’ at the annual awards show on September 12 was Gaucho.
Chinese BBQ and seafood restaurant on Charles Street, One Plus, was selected for the category of ‘Best Takeaway Restaurant’ alongside the likes of Blackpool’s Armenian Kebab House and York’s Boungiorno, but was unfortunately beaten by London Lebanese restaurant, Chamisse. There was also a category for ‘Best Restaurant Chain’ which saw Gourmet Burger Kitchen, German Doner Kebab, Honest Burgers, Vapianos and Wingstop (all with Manchester branches) up against RAPS by Kitchen Ventures, Tapas Brindisa, Thai Square, Chotto Matte and Sukho Thai, with Thain restaurant chain Thai Square named the winner.
