It’s no secret that Bolton has become quite the hotspot for filming the biggest TV shows and films coming out of the UK and the world alike, and now you can get the lowdown on some of the best filming locations that you’ll recognise straight away. You can join local historian and professional tour guide, Suzanne Hindle, on a behind-the-scenes tour of the likes of Le Mans Crescent and the Magistrates’ Court in Bolton as part of a brand new set of TV and film location walking tours – and they are completely free!
Bolton locations have been used by the TV and film industry in shows such as Peaky Blinders, Happy Valley, It’s a Sin, Coronation Street, Alma’s Not Normal, A Gentleman in Moscow and Phoenix Nights, welcoming the likes of Olly Alexander, Cillian Murphy and Ewan McGregor. During the tour, you’ll get to explore the court room, cells and Crescent corridors whilst hearing tales of how the industry adapts locations to set the scene.
All tours begin at the Bolton Museum shop, and are part of the celebrations of Bolton being chosen as the Greater Manchester Town of Culture, with the Bolton TV & Film Tours operating until October.
