The best spots for a refreshing G&T.
Whether you’re winding down on a summer’s day or looking for a spirited drink to warm you up in the winter – Manchester isn’t short of fabulous bars to treat yourself to a tipple. And if gin’s your tipple of choice, you’ll want to head to the pros. Check out our guide to the best gin bars in Manchester.
1. Allotment
Allotment NQ is the home of a fabulously long gin menu, so if there’s one thing they know well, it’s a G&T. But if there’s something a little sweeter on your mind, the talented bartenders can sling together some seriously tasty cocktails – from lemon drizzle and birthday cake flavours to more traditional, floral and botanical concoctions. Allotment NQ, 24 Dale St, M1 1FY.
2. Three Little Words
Nestled inside a city centre gin distillery, Three Little Words is a gorgeous spot for a post-work drink or weekend cocktail, serving up the full range of Manchester Gin (which is only fitting, given it’s their distillery). Enjoy G&Ts made with some of Manchester Gin’s popular blends such as the signature gin, raspberry or blackberry – or opt for one of the many gin-infused cocktails that make up a menu that’s almost impossible to select from (because it’s that good!). Three Little Words, 12-13 Watson St, M3 4LP.
3. Atlas
An underrated retreat from the bustling city, Atlas Bar can be found right at the bottom of Deansgate where they stock specialist gins – over 520 of them, to be precise. And with a heated outdoor terrace with plenty of seating, it’s the perfect summer spot for a refreshing tipple. Atlas Bar, 376 Deansgate, M3 4LY.
4. Behind Closed Doors
Hidden underground behind an unsuspecting door in the Northern Quarter, Behind Closed Doors is a wonderfully dirty little secret serving speciality spirits – and their gin offering does not disappoint. Kick back and relax in a whole new world, with plush, low-lit surroundings and frequent DJ sets lifting the mood. Behind Closed Doors, 93 Oldham St, M4 1LW.
5. Seven Bro7hers
Seven Bro7hers has three sites across Manchester, one in Ancoats, another in Salford and a brand spankin’ new one at MediaCityUK – all of which stock their four sisters’ gin, Sis4ers Distillery. The distillery creates a number of botanical blends, with flavours such as strawberry, lime & thyme, caramel espresso and passionfruit available to try. Can’t get any more summery than those choices! Seven Bro7hers, 39 Blossom St, Ancoats, M4 5AF | Lockside Ln, Salford, M5 4YP.
6. Impossible
With their very own gin nest, it’d be wrong not to mention Impossible. The hidden gin spot offers up 84 gins from all around the world, so there’s definitely a blend for everyone. The gin bar also serves up frozen cocktails for summer – the perfect way to cool off after a day of shopping. Impossible, 36 Peter St, M2 5QR.
7. The Botanist
A beautiful spot nestled within busy Deansgate, The Botanist is home to an array of gins to suit every palate – with the citrus, the herbaceous, and the fruity and floral all available under the one roof. We’re talking seriously refreshing and zesty tipples served with a mixer of your choice, as well as an array of special summer gin cocktails to quench our thirst on hot days. This summer’s gin cocktail menu includes the Pineapple & Sage Mojito, Yuzu & Peach Cosmo, Smoky Pineapple Negroni and the Rhubarb and Sage Spritz, to name a few. The Botanist, 78 Deansgate, M3 2FW.
