Benty Farm is famous for its rotating ‘pick-your-own’ fields. It’s not just a shop; it’s an experience where you can wander the farm and harvest your own produce and flowers:
- Spring (April–May): Tulip season, with over 20 varieties.
- Summer: Strawberries and raspberries.
- August: A huge sunflower patch.
- Autumn (October): A popular pumpkin patch—no booking usually needed.
- Winter (December): Choose your own Christmas tree.
Tulip season 2026

If you’re planning a trip for the tulips, timing is everything.
- Early Bird Tickets: For 2026, early bird ‘viewing only’ tickets are sold out (already).
- Picking: Once picking opens, stems are £1 each – entry is £5 with under 2’s going free.
Check their Instagram before visiting, as weather can affect opening.
PYO tulips ground rules
To keep the farm running smoothly:
- Field hygiene: don’t eat produce in the fields—wash everything at home.
- No dogs in the fields: dogs are welcome at the tearooms but not in the PYO areas.
- Opening times: typically Wednesday to Sunday, 10am–4pm, but this can vary seasonally.
The tearoom

The Benty Farm tearoom is a total hidden gem, looking out over Thurstaston Common. It’s the kind of place where you can just slow down, whether you’re after a quick morning coffee, a light lunch, or want to go all-out on a proper afternoon tea, with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced food.
The Benty Farm tearoom has about 25 spots inside, plus plenty of outdoor seating for when the sun decides to show up. Unlike the tulip fields, the tearoom is completely dog-friendly, so your pup doesn’t have to miss out on the adventure, and you can easily feature the tearoom into a lovely dog walk, with access by foot via a woodland walk from School Lane.
Ready to head out? Benty Farm Tearooms provide a wholesome, soul reset kind of day trip that’s hard to beat, especially in the height of spring.
