Normally, you’d need to travel to Spain to bear witness to an authentic flamenco show, but this summer, Spain is coming to us in Manchester. One of the most respected performing arts institutions in the country, The Royal Opera of Madrid, will be going on a world tour with their flamenco show, stopping at Manchester’s Contact Theatre between June 2–10.
The striking show will be filled with passion, percussion and, of course, dancing, bringing together acclaimed flamenco dancers and live musicians. For Manchester’s leg of the tour, award-winning dancer Yolanda Osuna will be leading the performance.
What can you expect at The Royal Opera of Madrid’s authentic flamenco show?
For those unfamiliar, flamenco is a traditional style of music and dance that originated in the southern region of Andalusia. It’s rhythmic, fervent, and the dancers impress with lightning fast footwork. At this authentic flamenco show in Manchester, well known performer Yolanda Osuna will lead the charge with a vibrant performance – and distinctive outfit – that will brighten up even the most glorious of summer nights. She has danced at the most prestigious theatres and flamenco festivals in Spain and she’ll captivate you right here in our city.
The performances will take place at the aforementioned Contact Theatre, which is located pretty much on the university campus, home to a diverse array of performing arts. Inspiring the next generation and the general public alike, the show will have you dancing in your seat, and reaching for castanets, pronto.
There are a plethora of ticket options available, no matter which date you choose; opt for standard tickets to enjoy the show – which will be unforgettable in itself – or take it up a notch with a VIP package, which will benefit you with better seats, and a meet and greet with photo opportunities, after the show.
