As work on transforming Manchester Airport’s Terminal 2 is almost complete, several airlines have announced that they will be moving to the swanky new terminal. Following a £1.3bn transformation programme, Terminal 2 will feature a host of new shops, cafes, restaurants and bars – including a Chanel outlet, the airport’s first Wetherspoon pub, a Fever-Tree bar and its new food hall, Great Northern Market.
Renowned high street brands LEGO, Rituals and Pandora opened their first units at Manchester Airport in July, with coffee giant Starbucks, baguette specialists Upper Crust, and juice bar Joe & The Juice also joining Terminal 2. One of Manchester’s favourite bakeries, Gooey, also recently revealed plans that it would be opening up at the new terminal.
The first phase of the 10-year transformation programme included an extension that doubled the size of Terminal 2, which opened in 2021, and since then, work to revamp the original part of the building, creating more space for seating, security, shops and restaurants and check-in has been ongoing. More than 70% of the airport’s passengers will use the new facilities and Terminal 1 is set to close when the project is completed later this year.
Earlier in September, Manchester Airport confirmed that airlines Aer Lingus, Luxair, and Finnair would be relocating to Terminal 2, with a host of other airlines set to follow in October and November, including British Airways and easyJet.

Other airline moves
Ryanair passengers flying from Manchester Airport will see a small change to their journey as work continues to improve Terminal 3. From October 21, passengers will no longer use the usual Terminal 3 entrance. Instead, they should head to Terminal 1 Departures A, where they will check in and pass through the new security lanes.
Once through security, passengers will follow a clearly signed route into Terminal 3’s departure lounge, where all existing shops and food outlets remain open. This arrangement will stay in place until Terminal 1 closes, at which point the entrance will be renamed and permanently become the entrance to Terminal 3. Clear signage will be in place, and airport staff will be on hand to assist passengers.
The arrivals route remains unchanged. All Ryanair passengers returning to Manchester will continue to arrive at Terminal 3.
