Manchester is an absolute hub for street food vendors, making it a fitting location to host the Northern final of the British Street Food Awards (BSFA). Part of the world’s largest street food competition, BSFA is set to bring the best of Northern street food traders to Manchester this weekend.
The regional final is set to take place at none other than one of the city’s most popular hub for food, drink, and entertainment, Freight Island, on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August. The final sees some of the top street food traders compete for the British Street Food Awards ‘Northern Champion’ by showcasing their one killer signature dish to a panel of judges.
The judging panel for the 2024 event is yet to be revealed however previous judges have included the likes of Michelin-starred chefs and acclaimed food writers such as Ed Cooke, Richard Corrigan, Gizzi Erskine, Giorgio Locatelli, and more. Following the Northern final in Manchester, successful regional finalists will take their dishes to the the UK final in London on September 13th to 15th as they compete for the prestigious British Street Food Awards Champion. And the competition continues to European Street Food Awards grand final in Germany later this year.
The competition not only showcases the finest in street cuisine but also offers food enthusiasts the unique opportunity to vote for their favourite vendor in The People’s Choice award. Both The People’s Choice and Northern Champion will be announced on Sunday 18th August.
Past BSFA winners have achieved significant success, including popular names such as Wingmans, MEATliquor, and BAO. The event promises a weekend filled with mouth-watering dishes, vibrant atmospheres, and the chance to discover the next big name in street food.
