Summer is well and truly here and this weekend the historic Salford pub, The Black Friar, is launching its new outdoor kitchen menu, served in its award-winning summer garden for the second year in a row. The hidden gem located at the edge of Manchester city centre is the perfect summer hideaway, complete with an all new al fresco food menu.
The Black Friar is said to boast one of the best beer gardens in the city, which was recently awarded best landscaping in the beer garden category in the 2022 BALI National Landscaping Awards and the award for Commercial Garden of the year 2023 in APL Awards.
From June 17, the garden will be open to the public every day the sun is shining and is the perfect spot to relax and soak up some rays. The garden will also feature live music outdoors every Tuesday evening, with an ever-changing roster of local singers and musicians.
To celebrate the re-opening of the lush hidden garden escape, the Black Friar will also be launching its delicious garden menu, available from Thursdays every week. The outdoor menu, curated by award-winning chef Ben Chaplin, features a selection of British topped flatbreads baked in the wood-fire garden kitchen oven, alongside charcuterie boards and more for guests to enjoy in the sun.
Wallet friendly dishes include; Spiced Chicken Flatbread with Mint Yoghurt, Crayfish with Spiced Seafood Sauce and a classic Charcuterie Platter. The Garden will also serve a selection of delicious cocktails, perfect for sipping in the sun including the refreshing elderflower and mint ‘Sacred Spritz’, the tequila and mango based ‘Frozen Tipple’ and ‘Frozen Eden’ a citrusy, berry rum cocktail.
Every Thursday throughout Summer, The Black Friar will also offer 50% off flatbreads from 4pm all night, alongside Happy Hour every day, 4pm ‘til 6.30pm. Happy Hour includes £4 pints, wine bottles from £15 and both classics and Garden speciality cocktails for £6.
The Black Friar’s à la carte menu, which is available everyday, has also been refreshed ahead of summer featuring a selection of delicious new dishes including; Seared Pork Loin served with Chorizo Fricassee, a vegan Heritage Tomato Barley Risotto with Confit Artichoke and Black Garlic, and Chargrilled Yellowfin Tuna Niçoise Salad. The À La Carte menu is available both indoors and out from midday, Tuesday to Friday.
