There really is no simpler pleasure than taking in the sunset. But what makes that simple pleasure instantly special? Taking in the sunset from 20 storeys high, looking over your favourite city’s skyline. And when we say favourite city, we mean Manchester, obviously.
Bringing back their Blackout Dinner for this autumn after its sell-out Halloween event last year, the Manchester bar and restaurant recently crowned the best restaurant in the city, 20 Stories, has announced that guests can do exactly that. The Manchester spot is hosting a special event in partnership with Nyetimber, which will see the stunning restaurant completely blacked out, with only candlelight and the light from the view of the city to provide the mysterious ambience.
Taking place on Sunday 29th October, guests will get to step into a darkened restaurant as the light from the thousands of candles flicker, before setting down at the table to enjoy a glass of Nyetimber Classic Cuvée. There, guests can unwind while taking in the natural views of the city, with no bright light sources to distract from the beautiful city scenes.
If that wasn’t all, 20 Stories will also be cooking up a very special five course menu (vegan menu available) for guests to indulge in. Diners will begin with an olive & rosemary tartlet with artichoke and parmesan plus a wild mushroom & truffle arancini, followed by a celeriac carpaccio, pickled bilberries, celeriac purée, celeriac crisps and lovage.
Next, diners can tuck into poached plaice, pomme purée, mussel velouté and sea herbs, followed by roasted duck breast, salsify, girolles, beetroot & kale and spiced duck sauce. The blackout dinner will finish with a meadowsweet parfait with blackberry, pecan and malt.
Costing £75 per person, guests will be welcomed at 7.30pm and dining amongst the darkness will commence from 8pm, with all booking requests made to HannahM@danddlondon.com. Find out more about the Blackout Dinner at 20 Stories here.
