Chips and gravy – how could it possibly get any better? Well, one Greater Manchester cafe and bar has managed to top that combination by putting those delicious ingredients in half a loaf of tiger bread to create a next level butty.
Nestled in the area of Boothstown, near Worsley, Why Not? serves up exactly that. Filling half of a tiger loaf barm that’s crusty on the outside yet soft on the inside with lashings of gravy and seasoned triple cooked chips, it’s the carbs on carbs combo we need in life, especially during the winter when warm comfort food is a must.
More a curry sauce fan than a gravy one? Well, Why Not? has got you as there’s also the option to enjoy their chip-stuffed tiger loaf barms with curry sauce to level up the chip shop classic as opposed to the thick gravy. Plus, during the festive period, pigs in blankets aren’t just for Christmas as you can enjoy pigs in blankets in a half of tiger bread alongside rich onion gravy.
What adds to the magic alongside these irresistible and flavoursome filled tiger loaves is that you can also get a bit of everything in every bite. Crusty and soft bread, crispy fries and a ratio of sauce/gravy to carb that is bang on.
But that’s not all. Why Not? fills their tiger loaves with other delicious breakfast items like sausage or bacon. Bread is very much the star of the show at this Boothstown cafe as you’ll also find wraps, burgers and barms on the menu.
As well as serving their incredible tiger bread barms, Why Not? also has some tasty ciabattas, which go great with a pint or hot drink. Customers can choose from fillings like crumbly Kick-Ass cheddar cheese with piccalilli or chilli jam; peppered brisket, onions, mushrooms and buffalo sauce; or sliced ham, tomato, rocket with dijon and herb mayonnaise.
And because the cafe bar cannot get enough of the carbohydrates (and neither can we) they also serves up pies, hot pots and delectable loaded fries throughout the week. Topped with either steak brisket, onions, mushrooms and buffalo sauce; American creamy cheese with red onion; or feta cheese with tzatziki, garlic mayo and olives, you won’t be leaving this spot hungry.
Why Not? boasts a cute beer garden with some sheltered seating as well as indoor seating and a deli stocked up local beers, meats, cheeses and more to take home with you.
