With the Winter Olympics upon us, it’s the time when we convince ourselves we could definitely hurtle down an ice slide at speed and come out in one piece, look completely graceful shooting off a ski jump, and land a quadruple airborne spin on the rink. But one winter sport that doesn’t feel so unrealistic is curling, and since this is the sport that tends to capture our imaginations the most – and one Team GB are actually pretty good at – the first ever UK Floor Curling Championships are coming to The Curling Club in Manchester.

In partnership with World Curling, the inaugural UK Floor Curling Championships mark a major step forward in bringing the excitement and accessibility of Floor Curling to communities across the UK. Floor Curling – an iceless, portable adaptation of traditional curling – offers a fun, accessible way for players of all ages and abilities to experience the strategy and spirit of ‘the roaring game.’
In addition, The Curling Club has partnered with the Team GB Foundation ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics, to help make casual curling more mainstream and inspire a new wave of participants to engage with one of Britain’s most exciting and competitive winter sports. This collaboration aims to bridge the gap between social play and elite competition, encouraging more people to discover and enjoy curling in all its forms.

Coinciding with the 2026 Winter Olympics, events will be held at The Curling Club’s flagship venues across the UK, including London, Manchester, and a planned partnership with Scottish Curling to host a Scottish league and finals in Edinburgh.
How will the UK Floor Curling Championships work?
