Summer is finally here, so make the most of it while it lasts with these things to do in Manchester.
August begins with no Wimbledon and no Love Island. To soften this blow, we’ve put together a nifty little guide to all the wonderful things to do in August, so get planning!

1. Take a trip on the bottomless brunch boat (August 3)
Fever is inviting brunch fans to meander down the Irwell on its first-ever brunch cruise! Bottomless bubbles will be flowing for an hour after departure and guests will be able to chow down on a selection of mini-bagel sliders, with meat and vegetarian options*, provided by Eat New York. 2. Head down to the Great Northern Warehouse street festival (August 3 and 4)
The Great Northern Warehouse will be throwing its very own Street Festival, with a host of free activities. The destination’s Deansgate Mews, on its upper level, will be transformed into a street of fun festivities, that will bring together the best of Manchester’s art, music, food and drink scene. 3. Take an art lesson while you drink (August 4)
Since 2013, the mission of PopUp Painting has been to bring art out of the classroom and gallery and into the places people meet on a day-to-day basis. PopUp Painting is inviting budding artists to unleash their creativity – drink in one hand, paintbrush in the other! Attendees will be guided step by step by a practising artist, while they sip, paint and create their way to becoming an artist for the night

4. Try these gooey baked cookie dough desserts at the Trafford Centre (from August 1)
After developing a cult following in Manchester, Mycookiedoughhas doubled down on the delicious dough and opened a shiny new store in the Trafford Centre.
For the uninitiated, the menu plays host to freshly-baked cookie dough delights such as the Red Velvet, Kinder & Nutella cookie dough, as well as the Instagram-famous stacks that come in flavours such as Banoffee Pie and the Sl***y Brownie. 5. Check out some of the UK’s best bands at The Great Northern Ska Festival (August 17)
Welcome to The Great Northern Ska Festival! Come along and enjoy several stages with a variety of spectacular bands in a friendly atmosphere! 6. See The Spice Gals (August 24)

7. Sing-along with Mamma Mia 2 while you enjoy bottomless drinks and popcorn (August 24)
Gimme! Gimme! Gimme another glass of bottomless fizz! Abba fans will be able to watch Mamma Mia in an immersive environment, with free drink flowing throughout the whole film and bottomless popcorn available in five tasty flavours.
The event which will take place in a secret city-centre location, which will be transformed into a quaint Greek taverna where each guest will be treated to a private table with waiter service for the duration of the film, while they belt out those plate-smashing pop classics. 8. See Artful Dodger And Phats & Small at Flixton Festival (August 25)
The much-loved community event will take place at Flixton Cricket and Sports Club in Lawrence Road, Flixton on August 25. And this year’s family-friendly event is set to bring together some big names and rising stars of the northern music scene.

9. Relive your youth at this emo-themed club night (August 30)
Remember the days when your biggest worry was who to put in your top eight friends on Myspace? When you spend your evenings drink Frosty Jacks in the park while listening to My Chemical Romance on your Sony Ericsson. Deaf Institute is inviting reformed emos to travel back in time to those strangely beautiful days for a night of old favourites.

10 – 13. Watch Hollywood’s finest at work
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teams up with Jason Statham to take on a villainous Idris Elba in a Fast & Furious spin-off released on August 1. On August 9, we see the release of Blinded By The Light directed by Bend It Like Beckham’s Gurinder Chadha. This movie tells the story of a British teen of Pakistani descent growing up in Luton, whose life is transformed when he discovers the music of Bruce Springsteen. Also released on August 9 is another tearjerker from the studio that brought us Marley & Me: The Art Of Racing In The Rain. Told from the perspective of Enzo the dog (voiced by Kevin Costner), the trailer alone will leave you feeling delicate. And finally, Tarantino’s latest Once Upon A Time In Hollywood hits the big screens on August 14, boasting a stellar cast (oh hi Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie).
