The tastiest way to support the Manchester Pride charity.
While the vast majority of us were drinking our body weight in homemade frozen Margs and half-assedly baking banana bread during lockdown, the remaining 1% were turning lemons into lemonade. And that 1% includes Salford-born fashion marketer Sophie Allen, who has rapidly turned her longtime love of baking into an overnight success story.
Launching The Food Rubiks Cakery just a matter of months ago – a brand that humbly began as a safe space on Instagram for Allen to share her delicious bakes and dishes – the home-based bakery is fast becoming one of our favourite Manchester-grown businesses, with many a local hailing her genius ‘cakesicles’ as “exquisite” and “just as good as they look”. And now, Mancs can enjoy the treats *almost* guilt-free, with a brand new LGBTQ+ range dropping this week to help raise funds for the Manchester Pride charity.
Taking orders until Wednesday 25th August at 10pm, sugar lovers can choose from a selection of treats varying from cupcakes and cookies to brownies and cakesicles, all boasting stunning rainbow and LGBTQ+-themed decoration in the spirit of Manchester Pride. 100% of all profits will be donated to the Manchester Pride charity, making it the perfect way to support the community as the annual festival returns for the first time in two years.
