From breakfast to dessert pizzas, we’ve covered all bases.
Our self-proclaimed pizza professional and veteran of the industry has scoured pizzerias across Greater Manchester to put together our list of must-visit pizza joints.
1) Crazy Pedro’s Part-Time Pizza Parlour, Northern Quarter and Spinningfields
Part pizza joint, part bar, Crazy Pedro’s brings us the best of both worlds with its legendary lunch deal – two slices and a drink for a fiver. The dough is made fresh every day and topped with a host of weird and wonderful things, from the classic to the downright bizarre (look out for sweet Baby Cheesus at Christmas). 55-57 Bridge Street, M33BQ. 1 Short Street, Northern Quarter, M4 1AA
2) Rudy’s Pizza, Ancoats and Peter Street
Rudy’s promises a relaxed restaurant environment and delicious pizzas made by passionate pizzaiolos intent on following the traditions and artistry of pizza from Naples, which explains why their pizza is so damn good! The restaurant is walk-in only, so get there early to avoid disappointment. 9 Cotton St, M4 5BF. Petersfield House, Peter St, M2 5QJ
3) PLY, Northern Quarter
The pizza hangout uses a mirror-tiled, woodfired oven to cook up Neapolitan, sourdough pizzas and offers excellent choices for veggies, vegans and carnivores alike. AND, if you’ve got space, a Nutella pizza for dessert. 26 Lever St, M1 1DW
4) Zads, Chorlton
The self-titled ‘guilt-free takeaway’ is the only vegan take-out pizzeria in Greater Manchester. Zads promise pizzas with none of the dietary cholesterol, and a fraction of the saturated fat and calories found in traditional takeaway food. The pioneering pizzeria also boasts a menu packed with crazy toppings as well as their surprisingly delicious ZFC (Zad Fried Cauliflower). 354 Barlow Moor Rd, M21 8AZ
5) Honest Crust, Northern Quarter and Altrincham
Based in the gorgeous Mackie Mayor with premises in Altrincham, Honest Crust’s mission is a simple one: To make really good sourdough pizza. A mission it has, in our opinion, definitely accomplished. 26 Market St, Altrincham WA14 1SA. Mackie Mayor Eagle St, Manchester M4 5JY
6) Dough Pizza Kitchen, Northern Quarter
Dough has taken the concept of all-day pizza to the next level, offering a breakfast pizza topped with a full English, complete with a fried egg. 77 High St, M4 1FS
7) Double zero, Chorlton
The bring your own booze pizzeria prides itself on authenticity. From the dough, which is made on site daily using only four ingredients, to the wood-fired oven brought in from Naples, and offers freshly made gluten-free pizza and garlic bread. Just make sure you ring up 24 hours before so they can prepare the dough. 368 Barlow Moor Rd, M21 8AZ
8) Blend, Didsbury
Owned and run by a genuine Italian, the pizzeria offers five types of pizza dough, including traditional Napolina, wholemeal and the more unusual five grain. The friendly staff at Blend are more than happy to talk customers through the options and offer recommendations. 721 Wilmslow Rd, M20 6WF
9) Dogs ‘n’ Dough, Albert Square
The gourmet hot dog and pizza venue is, as far as we know, the only place offering deep pan pizza in Manchester. Keep an eye out for special offers (like free pizza on national pizza day) and make sure you save room for a dessert pizza! 17 Bow Lane, M2 4FW
10) Slice, Northern Quarter
Open day and night and offering pizza by the…well…slice, this pizza bar is the perfect pit stop on a night out or a busy shopping trip. 1a Stevenson Square, M1 1DN
