12.51pm is the time at which the strawberry moon will peak on Tuesday in the UK, and fingers crossed we see few clouds because behind them will sit something spectacular. The super strawberry moon will appear much larger than usual and have an orange-pink tinge.
Photographers have your cameras at the ready and if you miss it on Tuesday lunchtime, then you may still have the chance to see it on Tuesday evening. Potentially lingering for a couple of days, Brits may spot a glimpse of the strawberry moon this evening when the sun sets, with best views at either moon rise or moon set – when the moon meets the horizon.
A supermoon appears when the moon is full and orbits close to the Earth at the same time and although you can see a full moon every month, the supermoon appears much larger than usual. There are generally only a couple or so supermoons a year so it’s really an incredible sight.
