Having made a name for itself in Ancoats, SUD, formerly known as Sugo, has announced it will take its first steps into the city centre very soon. SUD Pasta will open its first city centre location at Manchester’s cool, industrial city centre space Exhibition next week on August 23.
After gathering a cult following in Greater Manchester over the years, fans of the Southern Italian kitchen will be able to enjoy their stone-cold classics at the multi-kitchen concept venue just off Peter Street from this August onwards. Nestled within the Grade II listed building on Museum Street, which was previously the site of the Museum of Natural History back in 1909, SUD joins two award-winning independent kitchens.
Alex de Martiis, co-owner of SUD, said: “Needless to say, we’re absolutely buzzing to be opening our brand-new kitchen at Exhibition. We think it’s a great project in a great location, and most importantly for us, the whole team at Exhibition really cares about creating something special.
“Three great kitchens, one beautiful building in the heart of Manchester and the chance to cook and serve some of our stone-cold classic dishes – what’s not to love about that!?”
Drawing from their deep-rooted Southern Italian heritage and the team’s bold creativity, SUD pledges to put its heart and soul onto each and every plate that they serve. At the Exhibition opening, expect to see smaller plates perfect for sharing, alongside SUD Pasta favourites such as Orecchiette ‘al pomodoro’ and the Calamarata with tiger prawns.
SUD joins the two award-winning independent kitchens currently at Exhibition – Baratxuri, serving up Basque cuisine cooked over live fire; and OSMA, simple yet perfected Scandi-inspired small plates, and named as one of the two affordable restaurants in Manchester in the Michelin Guide. The unique concept sees three award-winning kitchens work together to create one table service restaurant – order sharers and plates from all three and curate your own dining experience.
Fast-approaching its first birthday, Peter Street’s Exhibition has already built a reputation as the go-to hotspot for quality dining, unique cocktails and late night partying.
Sam Wheatley, Operations Manager at Exhibition, said: “We’ve passed some major milestones this year, and the addition of SUD to our family is another huge one. It’s great to see that our guests and the people of Manchester have been so positive about the new concept – we’ve only just scratched the surface of what we have planned.”
Exhibition is open from 12pm – late Wednesday – Sunday, with kitchens serving food until 9pm (7pm on Sundays). Bookings are strongly advised for this exciting new launch period, and you can book a coveted space here.
