Mackie Mayor is one of Manchester’s favourite food halls, and having won awards for its innovation and variety, any news of new vendors, which is pretty rare, comes with a huge amount of anticipation. Luckily for us, Stray, a new cocktail bar taking residency at Mackie Mayor, will open on November 3.
Located on Eagle Street, right on the corner of Mackie Mayor, at the former site of Atkinsons Coffee which closed its doors earlier this year, Stray brings a simple proposition: uncomplicated, well-executed cocktails, served in a relaxed setting for anyone who wants to swing by.
The drinks menu brings together a selection of expertly made, refined and flavoursome cocktails developed with thought and creativity. Leading the menu are Stray’s signature drinks – a collection titled ‘Led Astray’ which combines seasonal flavours alongside those less commonly explored.
Stray’s version of the classics takes drinks we know and love, delivering them with an ever so slight twist and of course, guests can order any classic just how they like it. A carefully curated list of low and non-alcoholic cocktails is given as much attention as the rest of the menu.
Although we don’t yet have a definitive menu, Stray have teased one of their cocktails on Instagram, which seems a sign of things to come. The Tomato Margarita consists of: Tomato vine Tequila, Mezcal, Helios Tomato, Agave, Acid Blend, Lime Oil – making for a unique yet delicious twist on a classic.
Stray quite simply promises “belting drinks for lovely people” on its opening at Mackie Mayor this Friday, and we’re inclined to believe them.
Stray will join the likes of Honest Crust Pizza, Reserve Wine Bar, Jack in the Box ale and cider bar, Tender Cow, Pico’s Tacos and so many more at Mackie Mayor, so put aside some time in your schedule to spend a long evening at Manchester’s favourite food hall.
