One thing that unites us is, funnily enough, competition – and one competition chock full of fun is returning to Greater Manchester next year. Stockport Soapbox Derby is set to return to the town next summer, and it’s set to be the weirdest and whackiest edition yet.
Join thousands of spectators from across Stockport and beyond to cheer on crazy, wacky, and outrageous soapbox racers as they launch themselves downhill in hand-crafted karts, tackling a 350m course packed with chicanes, obstacles, water splashes and more.
The event is fuelled by amazing amateur teams, competing not just to be the fastest, but also for prizes like Best Dressed, Best Design, and Best Showmanship – all powered by gravity, creativity, courage, and a little bit of luck. In true Krazy style, the competition will come down to a nail-biting knockout, with only the fastest 10 karts making it to the final showdown for the winner’s trophy.

If the drivers are the ones who bring the passion and creativity to the event, the spectators are the ones who bring the energy, cheers, and unforgettable atmosphere to the day. Totally Stockport Krazy Races is back to fill the streets with outrageous soapbox designs, fearless racing, and a full day of free family fun right in the heart of Stockport.

- 10.45am – Official event launch procession
- 11am-1pm – Racing starts
- 1pm-2pm – Lunch break
- All day – Meet the teams in the Pit Area – completely free!
- All day – Check out all the amazing traders and street food
- 2pm-4.30pm – Afternoon racing
- 4.30pm-5pm – Top 10 fastest teams battle it out to see who will win
- 5pm – Awards & trophies presented at the start line

As one of the Stockport Soapbox Derby teams, you are the heart of the action. Your soapbox won’t just be racing to the finish line; everyone wants to see wild, hare-brained ideas and the wackiest kart designs Stockport has ever seen.
Not racing to win? No problem! It’s not just about being the fastest. There are prizes for showmanship, innovation, and best dressed, so bring the fun and you could still walk away a winner. Your soapbox is only half the story — your team is a wacky extension of your kart, so you’ll need to wow the crowd with a 20-second performance before racing downhill!
Team spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Before submitting your application, do read all the Rules and Regulations carefully, as you will be required to strictly adhere to these during your build.
