Manchester’s much loved Mexican restaurant Madre has become a staple in the city since opening just last summer, bringing tacos, mezcal and tequila to the thriving rental neighbourhood of Kampus. Now, Madre has officially expanded, opening a tequila bar and pool hall, Salón Madre, right next door, so you can enjoy the celebration of Mexican cuisine and culture late into the night.
Salón Madre’s menu centres around tequila (which we’ll never complain about) with a menu of frozen, classic and flavoured Margaritas and Palomas. Draft wines, Corona and local beers also feature, for those crazy people who stay away from tequila… Visitors also will not miss out on Madre’s delicious Mexican food; Al pastor tacos are served daily with rotating tacos of the day, plus Gringas, nachos loaded with Al Pastor and Madre’s famous burritos.
The bar also houses four pool tables and will show Lucha Libre (Mexican Wrestling) and American sports bringing the fun and liveliness of the Mexican pool hall to Manchester and making Salón Madre the perfect spot for group gatherings and parties.
The vibes are casual, food and drink are obviously incredible, and the team now what they’re doing – it can’t get any better! Salón Madre follows the same principle as its big sister, as co-founder Nud Dudhia said on the OG’s opening in the summer: “For us Madre Manchester’s inception and vibe come from a long love of Mexico City’s people, food and culture.
“Our hope is to bring to Manchester a taste of the generosity and spirit we have experienced on our adventures and to welcome guests back time and time again.”
Salón Madre is now bookable for Christmas groups and parties, and what a venue for it! You can also book for smaller groups at salon@thisismadre.co.uk, or just walk in if you’re feeling spontaneous.
📍 You can find Salón Madre at 44 Chorlton Street, Manchester, M1 4FY.
