It goes without saying, we love a pub here in Manchester, and when it comes to the best pubs, sometimes we like to dip into Salford to really sample the range of excellent boozers available to us. Now, Salford’s first official pub crawl has arrived, with the Salford Seven launching on 11th and 12th September.
You’ve heard of the Didsbury Dozen, perhaps partaken in the Ale Trail, but now the Salford Seven is coming to rival the most famous pub crawls in town. Seven pubs, one goal: complete the crawl.
Which pubs are in the Salford Seven?
The pubs included in the Salford Seven pub crawl are as follows:
1. The Old Pint Pot, Adelphi St, Salford M3 6EN
Pull up a chair by the river at this lively Salford institution, where a sprawling beer garden meets classic pub grub and a rotating line-up of live music, quiz nights, and comedy. With rotating craft beer, plenty of pub games, and lovely community spirit, it’s a great first visit on the Salford Seven.
2. The New Oxford, 11 Bexley Square, Salford M3 6DB
Dating back to the 1850s, the New Oxford is a true classic, within easy reach of railways stations and boasts everything you could want from a traditional pub. With a prime plot on Bexley Square, sunny days are best spent out in the open air with a pint in hand, but if the weather takes a turn (as it usually does) you can bet on a cosy nook to sup on great pints inside this iconic pub.
3. The Kings Arms, 11 Bloom St, Salford M3 6AN
Known for many reasons in the surrounding area, the Kings Arms is a thing of beauty. With a focus on live music and entertainment, this pub is an essential on the crawl, with experimental brews on tap alongside good old fashioned home comforts. Spot the cat during your visit, and crack out the board games whilst you’re at it.
4. Eagle Inn, 19 Collier St, Salford M3 7DW
Well-known for being a live music venue, the Eagle Inn is an award-winning pub created from a hollowed out Victorian terraced house, with a top spec sound and lighting system. With cask, keg and plenty of other options available in this cosy, traditional spot, it’s a great stop-off on the pub crawl.
5. The Black Lion, 65 Chapel St, Salford M3 5BZ
Distinctive for its corner plot and restored black windows, The Black Lion takes the Salford Seven as close to Manchester as it gets. With stunning high ceilings and windows, its gorgeous interior may tempt you to stay longer than you really should on a pub crawl, but if you fancy actually getting some substantial food along the way (not that you have to…), this is a great spot to get yourself some sustenance – and is in a good position in the crawl to stop and get your bearings.
6. The Anglesey, 91 Chapel St, Salford M3 5DF
Another Chapel Street gem, The Anglesey is a proper cosy number on the crawl, combining tradition with modernity. Cask ales, draft beers and stouts cater to all tastes, and owners have ensured that past projects have entered and remained in publications like the Good Beer Guide year on year – so watch this space.
7. The Egerton Arms, 2 Gore St, Salford M3 5FP
Rounding out the Salford Seven is the Egerton Arms, right next to Salford Central train station – perfect for stumbling onto a train home. The traditional city pub is loved by regulars, and just waiting to welcome those completing the Salford Seven, with live music, live sports and a truly Salfordian atmosphere. You can’t go wrong.
How to take part
No tickets are required, it’s completely free to take part in the Salford Seven.
Although the official crawl doesn’t launch until the 11th and 12th September, of course, you can attempt this at any point… but do be careful, and enjoy yourselves out there!
