We’ve had our fair share of TV and film productions use our region for multi-million pound projects in the last few years, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down, because the next Netflix thriller from author Harlan Coben has been spotted filming in and around Manchester. Starring James Nesbitt, Minnie Driver, Ruth Jones, and Alfred Enoch, Run Away follows the success of Coben’s Netflix hits Missing You earlier this year, and Fool Me Once, which were both also filmed mostly around Greater Manchester – and if those productions are anything to go off, we’ve got another huge success on our hands.

Run Away is set to put us in the protagonist’s mind: You’ve lost your daughter. She’s addicted to drugs and to an abusive boyfriend. And she’s made it clear that she doesn’t want to be found. Then, by chance, you see her playing guitar in Central Park. But she’s not the girl you remember. This woman is living on the edge, frightened, and clearly in trouble.
You don’t stop to think. You approach her, beg her to come home. She runs. And you do the only thing a parent can do: you follow her into a dark and dangerous world you never knew existed. Before you know it, both your family and your life are on the line. And in order to protect your daughter from the evils of that world, you must face them head on.

Filming for Run Away began in Manchester and around the north west in January, with all of the stars recently spotted filming in Stockport too, most notably with Ruth Jones getting into what seems to be a 1980s Volkswagen Polo, just outside of the very central Egerton Arms. The Greater Manchester locations are once again thanks to Quay Street Productions, the Manchester-based production company that has collaborated with Netflix on a fair few Harlan Coben series now… so we have them to thank. We await more sightings – and we’re sure you’re as nosey as us!
With all the thrill, danger and intensity we’re used to rom Harlan Coben, all wrapped up in a phenomenal Netflix bow, Run Away is set to be a heck of a series. There has not yet been a release date specified, but we’ll be keeping you updated.
