Back in September it was announced that beloved family bakery Robinsons in Failsworth would be closing due to the cost of living crisis and no buyer being found. Now, the family bakery is delighted to announced that the Robinsons name will live on and the Failsworth shop is reopening for business, just in time for the festive season.
In an Instagram post earlier this week, Robinsons said that since September discussions have been taking place with Martins Family Bakery and the Robinson family are now pleased to announce that the shop at 69/71 Ashton Road East will continue as a family-run bakery, reopening just in time for Christmas with some very special mince pies.
They said: “We believe it is great news that another bakery will be continuing to trade from here, so our customers can still get their freshly baked goods. We are now pleased to be working with the Martin family to make some of our favourite recipes – which we think is a great link to our baking heritage.”
Neil Martin, daughter Jenny and son in law Toby said: “Customers will now have a choice of two Martins shops in Failsworth. Robinsons make some great cakes and bakes and we are pleased to be able to work with Grace and David to launch some new products and help keep the Robinsons baking history alive in Manchester.”
Some of the top Robinsons recipes that will be relaunched over the next couple of months include Multiseed Bread, Lancashire Parkin, Jam Slice, Flapjack, Viennese Biscuits, and the Robinsons recipe Manchester Tarts.
Robinsons bakery has nearly been running for 160 years, and now it will be able to reach that milestone, if under a different name, next year. This type of comeback is rare and with all the closures seemingly going on in Manchester, we’re so pleased to be bringing this great news.
You can find Robinsons Bakery of sorts inside Martins Family Bakery at 69/71 Ashton Rd E, Failsworth, Manchester M35 9PW, and there are plenty of Martins Family Bakeries around Greater Manchester to get stuck into.
