Following the news that British boxing legend Ricky Hatton had passed away at the age of 46, the Manchester-born legend’s funeral plans have been revealed, including a procession from his hometown of Gee Cross in Hyde, to Manchester Cathedral, where the service will take place.
The funeral route for Ricky Hatton will be publicly accessible all along, and will visit some of the establishments closest to Ricky and his family’s hearts. The route will also continue after the funeral service, from Manchester Cathedral to Hatton’s beloved Etihad Stadium.

Nicknamed ‘the Hitman’, Ricky Hatton competed as a boxer between the years 1997 and 2012. Hatton most famously became a world champion in 2005 after defeating Kostya Tszyu. The boxer matched up with some of the biggest names of his generation in the ring, including Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao.
Hatton was found at his home in Hyde on Sunday 14th September, confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.

Ricky Hatton’s funeral will take place on Friday 10th October at 12pm, at Manchester Cathedral.

Procession leaves at 9.45am from Cheshire Cheese pub in Gee Cross, Hyde, pausing at:
- Harehill Tavern
- The New Inn – for dove release
- Hatton’s Gym
The procession will then pass:
- Hyde Town Hall
- Betta Bodies Gym
- AO Arena
Arrive at Manchester Cathedral for funeral service.
After the funeral service, the procession will continue from Manchester Cathedral to the home of Hatton’s team Manchester City, the Etihad Stadium.

The funeral at Manchester Cathedral will be a private service, so the public will not be allowed in. The memorial route serves as a chance for the public to pay their respects to Ricky Hatton, whether that be on the route to the funeral, or afterwards on the journey to the Etihad Stadium.
