Rainy Heart is the pop-up sensation that’s captivated the hearts and minds of many since its arrival in a vacant shop unit in Stretford Mall, just over a year ago. The concept has somewhat outgrown its pop-up nature, and is now set to take over the Bungalow at Kampus, making this the first Rainy Heart city centre endeavour for us all to enjoy.
A joint project from the NTS DJ Ruf Dug and hot air balloon tour operator Dan Hope, Rainy Heart has materialised in many forms over the last 18 months – from the world’s smallest listening bar (capacity: 6) to sold-out raves in a former Boots pharmacy in Stretford Mall. The next project will see the team installing their world class audiophile sound system into the Bungalow at Kampus and experimenting with the concept of ‘A Bar That Listens.’

Ruf Dug will be the resident DJ, accompanied by a variety of events that will use the sound system to deliver wonderful, silly and meaningful experiences that will go beyond just music; performances from some of the finest electro-acoustic artists in the region, hybrid live/electronic sound healing sessions, screenings of films with amazing soundtracks, interactive art, dance classes, supper clubs and residencies from some of Rainy Heart’s favourite chefs – including Little Window, Will Shaw, Good Burger and more – and of course, the occasional rave.
Fay Carlos Brown will be on site day to day as the artist in residence – she will be looking after the space, making sure everybody is warm and welcome, and creating an ongoing interactive art work that will reflect Rainy Heart’s time in the bungalow and the experiences of all who’ve spent time with them.

Harriet Downey, General Manager at Kampus said: “We’re excited to partner with Rainy Heart and welcome them to our garden neighbourhood for their latest venture. The Bungalow plays a key role at Kampus as our village hall, having hosted a number of unique pop-ups and residencies, and we look forward to what Rainy Heart brings for our residents and visitors to enjoy!”
The residency launches on Easter Saturday (19th April) at 2pm, when Rainy Heart will be throwing an outdoor rave in the space underneath the Kampus Bungalow to kick start a summer of SOUND. As ever Rainy Heart won’t be sharing the DJ line-up, but if you know this duo, you know it’ll be special – just you wait.

Rainy Heart will be taking on the Bungalow at Kampus residency for eight weeks, from Saturday 19th April – Sunday 8th June, 2025.
