Stunning Pride rainbows are set to take over the city this weekend.
And we couldn’t be more here for it. From loud and Proud shop fronts to colourful treats and snacks, Mancs can expect welcoming rainbows at every turn this weekend – with plenty of local businesses getting into the spirit for the epic Manchester Pride weekender. Fancy getting in on the celebrations? Here’s our guide to some of the tastiest Pride-themed treats on offer this weekend.
1. Wholesome Junkies Pride Burger
Launching especially for Manchester Pride weekend, Wholesome Junkies has created the Rainbow Burger – a 100% plant-based creation sandwiched in a yummy rainbow-coloured bun. Available with all burgers, guests can choose from a variety of burger fillings – with £1 from every Rainbow Bun burger being donated to Manchester’s Rainbow Noir charity. The charity is a volunteer-led social, peer support and community action group for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex people of colour based in Manchester. Find out more here. Wholesome Junkies, Arndale Market, 49 High St, M4 3AH.
2. Fress Pride Pancakes
Consisting of a whopping stack of American-style pancakes before being topped with Nutella, strawberries and marshmallows, Fress’s Pride pancakes might look delicious – but they’re also for a good cause. For each Pride dish sold, Fress will be donating 30% to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, as well as donating to Hidayah LGBTQI+, too, a charity dedicated to supporting and empowering all LGBT+ people, particularly LGBT+ Muslims. Get your stack Friday-Sunday. Fress, 62 Oldham St, M4 1LE.
3. Oh My Cheesecake Pride Cheesecake
Joining an already impressive menu, Oh My Cheesecake has created a colourful Manchester Pride special – a frozen cheesecake on a stick that’s dipped in melted white chocolate, before being completely covered in rainbow sprinkles. If that wasn’t all, there’s also a tangy rainbow belt placed on top, too, making for one of their sweetest creations yet. Get it this weekend at Hatch. Oh My Cheesecake, 103 Oxford Rd, Hatch, M1 7ED.
4. The Unicorn Tail Cocktail at Menagerie
Kicking off Pride weekend in style, Menagerie is serving a tasty cocktail specially created for Pride weekend – which is available from Friday-Sunday. Named the Unicorn Tail Cocktail, the fruity creation is full of colour, and perfectly for sippin’ on to get into the Pride spirit. Menagerie, New Bailey, Ground One, New Bailey St, Salford, M3 5JL.
5. Rainbow Eclairs at Pot Kettle Black
Available all weekend long, Pot Kettle Black has created the cutest treat for the Manchester Pride celebrations, completely ‘rainbowifying’ (yeah, we made up a word…) the classic eclair. Consisting of vanilla crèmeux, almond paste and a shimmer glaze, the colourful treats can be found at the coffee shop’s Barton Arcade location this weekend only. Pot Kettle Black, Barton Arcade, M3 2BW.
6. Pride Cupcakes at Hey Little Cupcake
Available on Friday and Saturday only, Hey Little Cupcake has created a delicious-looking rainbow cupcake for Pride weekend, with a donation being made to the Manchester Pride charity for every single cupcake sold. Boasting rainbow frosting and a white fondant heart on top, the cupcakes make for the perfect gift to share with friends this weekend. Hey Little Cupcake, 2 Hardman St, M3 3HF.
7. The Ginny Lemon cocktail at The Mews
Introducing the Ginny Lemon – named, of course, after UK Drag legend Ginny Lemon. A gin sour created especially for Pride weekend, the gorgeous cocktail is made with Tanqueray, Chambord, lemon, Aquafaba and homemade blackberry jam, with £1.50 from each cocktail being donated to the Manchester Pride charity. 8. Manchester Gin: Pride Edition
One of Manchester’s favourite gin distilleries, Manchester Gin, has launched a very special gin for Manchester Pride, with each flavour and note carefully selected to represent a colour on the Pride flag. The gin is described as vibrant, citrusy, and spicy, with botanical notes, and can be purchased as a G&T at the Three Little Words bar, or alternatively, online as a full bottle. Manchester Gin will also be donating a number of cases to the Gay Village’s bars throughout the weekend. Get yours here.
