Pokémon GO lovers, listen up: one of the game’s biggest weekends of the year is coming. On Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November, Pokémon GO Wild Area: Global is bringing Gigantamax Duraldon to the game for the very first time, alongside Dynamax Dialga, Dynamax Palkia, and more!
It’s been ten years since Pokémon GO had us all out chasing Pokémon, and if you miss the way it felt to play alongside everyone across the world, this is your chance to dive back in, from wherever you are. And if you’re just after something fun and unique to do this November, it’s free to join and is guaranteed to get you out exploring.
New to Pokémon GO?
Never played before? This is the perfect weekend to start! Pokémon GO is a free app that turns the world around you into a map full of Pokémon to find and catch. As you walk, Pokémon pop up on your phone, and real-world landmarks, parks, and even murals become PokéStops. Spin one as you pass for free essential items like healing Potions, Berries, and Poké Balls to catch more.
It’s easy to pick up, and during Pokémon GO Wild Area there’ll be more to find than usual, plus event-exclusive bonuses to make the most of. Grab a friend, use Party Play to team up and treat it as a reason to wander somewhere new in Manchester.
What is Pokémon GO Wild Area?
Pokémon GO Wild Area is a worldwide in-game event, running for two days only, from 10am-6pm local time. This year, Steel- and Dragon-type Pokémon take the spotlight, with themed hours alternating throughout the day: Solid as Steel Hour comes first, followed by Daring as Dragons Hour. Keep an eye out for familiar faces like Charmander and Onix, plus fan favourites Lucario and Dratini.
And because it’s all played out in the real world, it’s the perfect excuse to get outside and see a whole new side of Manchester.

For seasoned Trainers
If you’ve been playing for a while, there’s so much in store for you this weekend. Gigantamax Duraludon is finally making its Pokémon GO debut, appearing in six-star Max Battles across the weekend. And if you’re lucky, you might even come across a Shiny one.
Two more debuts follow, as Dynamax Dialga and Dynamax Palkia arrive in Pokémon GO for the first time. Take on Dialga in Max Battles on Saturday and Palkia on Sunday, with a chance of a Shiny for both. And yes, Machamp is getting a new look, turning up to three-star raids all weekend in a jacket.
To mark the weekend, there’s a brand-new Special Background up for grabs. Catch Pokémon after raids and Max Battles for a chance of getting one, showing exactly when you caught it – the perfect souvenir of the weekend.
Mighty Pokémon are back in the wild, too. These rare and exceptionally powerful Pokémon are more likely to have high stats and be extra large, but they’re also harder to catch, so there’ll be event-exclusive GO Safari Balls to give you a better chance of catching them. You’ll have the chance to get them from spinning PokéStops and Photo Discs at Gyms – just make the most of them, as they disappear from your bag once the event ends.
Everyone who plays also gets up to three free Raid Passes a day, plus a chance of finding mighty Pokémon on Routes and with Incense. And with eight hours of Party Play, you can team up with friends to take on the weekend together.
Exclusive offers for ticket holders
Want to get even more out of your weekend? The Global Event Ticket unlocks an exclusive Special Research story, where you choose the Steel or Dragon path and finish with an encounter with Gigantamax Duraludon, complete with its own Special Background.
Ticket holders may also encounter mighty Latias and Latios, which will be drawn to Incense on both days. They’re quick to flee, though, so keep your GO Safari Balls at the ready.
On top of that, you’ll also get an increased chance of Shiny Pokémon, up to six free Raid Passes a day, 2x Candy for every Pokémon you catch and double-length Incense, giving you even more time to attract extra powerful Pokémon.
