A local bingo night is swapping out traditional cash prizes for houseplants, terrariums, and gardening supplies. Forget novelty tat and restrictive vouchers, because Plant Bingo is offering prizes to last you a lifetime – or a couple of days, depending on if you look after them.
Hosted by Potty MCR, the regular events feature a caller dressed in a giant sunflower costume drawing balls from a traditional cage, while players mark off numbers on custom plant-themed cards.
Participants compete to win everything needed to build an indoor jungle. The prize pool includes bags of specialist soil, repotting accessories, and fully grown plants ranging from small desk varieties to large monsteras and peace lilies. Players use standard bingo dabbers to mark their boards while enjoying drinks and socialising.
When does Plant Bingo run?
Potty MCR runs Plant Bingo every couple of weeks across the city, but the organisers also host other community events across town. This includes gatherings for indoor gardening fans, with dedicated plant swaps, macramé workshops, and repotting stations where attendees can get hands-on advice.
The events cater to everyone from experienced plant owners to complete beginners looking to add some greenery to their living spaces, offering a lively environment to expand a houseplant collection.
