One wholesome summer activity we always love to get involved in is fruit picking, and there’s a surprising amount of spots to bring to whole family to pick your five a day.
There are plenty of phenomenal fields just a short drive (or train/tram ride) from Manchester city centre ready for a harvesting haul. Whether you want a quick hop across the border or a scenic summer day trip, here is where you can fill your baskets with strawberries, raspberries, currants, gooseberries, rhubarb and so much more around Greater Manchester.
Kenyon Hall Farm
Kenyon Hall Farm opens its fields for the summer harvest from early June, allowing visitors to gather fresh produce directly from the source. The farm rotates through 20 different fruit and vegetable varieties as they ripen throughout the warmer months, including raspberries, onions, and corn on the cob.
Visitors will access most of the harvesting fields without a ticket, but strawberry picking will require an advance online reservation.

Mersey Vale Nature Park Community Orchard, Stockport
Mersey Vale Pick Your Own opens its fields for the upcoming strawberry harvest, allowing visitors to gather fresh produce themselves. The farm features tabletop strawberry plants housed under polytunnels, ensuring guests can pick fruit regardless of the weather.
Visitors can harvest the berries themselves before taking their haul to the payment hut. The on-site cafe serves locally produced fresh cream to accompany the fruit, and a new raspberry crop will join the fields later in the season. You can purchase containers on-site or alternatively bring your own containers.

Woore Fruit Farm
Woore Fruit Farm offers a rotating pick-your-own harvest throughout the year. Visitors can gather fresh produce directly from the fields, collecting various fruits and vegetables as they ripen across different seasons.
The harvest features a wide selection of berries and tree fruits, including strawberries, raspberries, tayberries, gooseberries, plums, redcurrants, blackcurrants, apples, and pears. The fields will also yield a diverse range of fresh vegetables, including onions, carrots, beetroot, garlic, courgettes, potatoes, and autumn pumpkins.

Claremont Farm, Wirral
Claremont Farm has launched its 2026 strawberry harvest across two dedicated picking sites, including a primary field the farmers will use for the first time in over 30 years. Visitors can walk the rows to gather the early-ripening Allegro variety directly from the plants before the later crops mature.
Participants can pay an upfront admission fee upon arrival, which covers field entry and provides a pre-sized punnet to fill. The on-site team accepts both cash and card payments directly at the picking stations, where guests will also find the option to purchase additional containers for larger hauls.

Sandhill Strawberry Farm
Sandhill Strawberry Farm is a traditional working farm, providing an active agricultural environment where guests can harvest their own fruit or explore the property’s interactive tractor and trailer displays.
Visitors who prefer to bypass the fields will find pre-harvested fruit, home-grown vegetables, and seasonal hanging baskets inside the on-site farm shop. The agricultural site also provides a large dedicated car park and transitions its crops later in the year to yield autumn pumpkins and winter Christmas trees.
