Mullets and hot pants at the ready, Mancs, because a roller rink is finally coming to Manchester city centre – and we can’t lie, we’re so ready to dust off our skates.
Brought to us by the imaginative team behind Junkyard Golf – who, of course, know a thing or two about putting an epic twist on a classic activity – Paradise Skate World is set to crash land on Deansgate this June 2nd, putting an intergalactic spin on the popular 80s past time.
Described as an “explosion in space meets Miami beach, fused with an intergalactic fantasy”, Paradise Skate World is set to reinvent roller skating as you may remember it, bringing it back up to date with a fun, cocktail-infused twist. It’ll also be a UK-first, thanks to the intergalactic world that founders Chris Legh and Sophie-Larissa Houghton have dreamed up.
The interactive roller skate rink will be accompanied by an ‘out-of-this-world’ bar, where guests will be able to enjoy a fusion of “Pan-Pacific’ snacks, alongside space-themed cocktails that can be enjoyed with friends – whether skating or simply enjoying the bar’s vibe.
Sophie-Larissa explains, “We are so excited to launch this new concept. We have created an amazing new world where people can escape reality, get lost in music, roller-skate into space, drink incredible cocktails and try out some cool snacks too. We will be taking roller-skating to new heights, no matter what your level of skating, Paradise Skate World is for all.”
Adding: “Paradise Skate World is one step closer to opening its doors and we couldn’t be more excited for everyone to experience our cosmic paradise. We have so many cool surprises and sneak peeks in store over the next few weeks, so make sure you connect with us on socials to hear the latest.”
At the space-station themed bar, guests can ‘dock in’ and kick back with a cocktail, with tons of delicious fruity concoctions including ‘Mercury Rising’, ‘Dark Side of the Moon’, ‘Supernova’ and ‘Odyssey’ – all created by local bartending legend Joe White, who’s been involved in the running of Gorilla, Hula and 10 Tib Lane.
Sophie adds: “The idea of this bar is to dock into the space station, where we want to create the imaginary experience of how it feels to be transported to a galactic beach; the place to sip cocktails from the promenade and feel a surge of energy from space skaters as they whizz around you in orbit. If you can imagine ‘spaceship meets beach pier’ then you’re on our wavelength, for bringing one of the best bar experiences to Manchester, at Paradise Skate World.”
Paradise Skate World is set to open this June 2nd and you’ll be able to snap tickets up from April 6th here. Prices will start at £12.50 per hour for a skating ticket.
