Definitely Maybe, Manchester’s only Oasis-themed bar and live music venue, has teamed up with Afflecks and renowned mosaic artist Mark Kennedy to bring a new mosaic of Liam and Noel Gallagher to Manchester city centre. The new mosaic piece was unveiled to the public outside Afflecks in the Northern Quarter at midday on July 1 by Clint Boon to officially mark the start of Oasis season and to commemorate the band reuniting on home soil later that month.
The new Oasis mosaic at Afflecks
Taking its place on the wall outside the shopping emporium on Tib Street as part of the world famous mosaic wall, the mural joins the display of existing artworks by Mark Kennedy featuring legendary faces associated with the city including Eric Cantona, Karl Marx, Morrissey, Emmeline Pankhurst and Ian Brown amongst others. Mark Kennedy, mosaic artist, summed up the mosaic: “The space on the mosaic wall couldn’t be for anyone else. It had to be Liam and Noel. I’m delighted to have worked with Definitely Maybe and Afflecks to bring this to the city.”
Paul Gallagher, Definitely Maybe’s founder, commented: “We have had such a positive welcome in the city since we opened – we have built a great community here, not just for fans but anyone who just loves a good night out. So we couldn’t let this huge occasion pass without marking it with something special. By emblazoning the band on the wall of this iconic building we want to bring something to the city that will really commemorate the moment.”
AJ Martyn, Afflecks’ general manager, added: “Our mosaic wall continues to attract love and attention from all over the world, and now to unveil a new portrait of two of the city’s most famous sons as we welcome them back to home turf is just the perfect addition to this iconic part of our beloved building.”
Definitely Maybe, the Oasis-themed bar in Manchester
Definitely Maybe opened in December last year and now, the team is gearing up for the moment when Oasis fans from the city and across the country will flock to Manchester to soak in the authentic vibes in the city where it all started. The Oasis-themed bar and music venue is a great spot for those after pre-show Oasis vibes and for those who didn’t manage to get a ticket it’s definitely (maybe) the next best thing.
On every day that Oasis are playing at Heaton Park, Definitely Maybe will be hosting an all day long gig party, with live music from 10am. Tickets are £20 for a 2-hour time slot, with all guests receiving a welcome drink, bucket hat and 10% off merchandise.
